Hon. Justice Isaac Lenaola attended the University of NairobiĀ and the Kenya School of Law, specialising in Commercial and Land Law, and later serving as a Commissioner at the Peoplesā Commission of Kenya and at the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission.
He joined the judicial service in 2003 and worked as Resident Judge in several High Courts. Hon. Justice Lenaola also served as a Commissioner at the Judicial Service Commission, as a member in the Judicial Training Institute, as Chairman of the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association, and as Treasurer of the East African Magistrates and Judges Association.
Until his appointment as Judge of the Supreme Court, Hon. Justice Lenaola was the Presiding Judge of the Constitutional and Human Rights Division at the High Court in Milimani. Hon. Justice Lenaola has served at the Court of First Instance of the East African Court of Justice from 2011 to 2018 and at the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone from 2013 to date.
He is President of the Advisory Council of the Strathmore Institute for Advanced Studies in International Criminal Justice, and President of the International Association of Refugee and Migration Judges. He is a Fellow of several academic institutions, a Chairman of the Judicial Action Group, a member of the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association, and of the African Judges and Jurists Forum.
